
Women's Tennis Falls to Louisville, 5-2

Huntington, W.Va. - On Saturday, Feb. 5, the NC State women's tennis team fell to Louisville, 5-2, in a neutral court match held in Huntington, W.Va. The Wolfpack picked up one win in doubles and two wins in singles action.
In doubles, junior Barbara Orlay and freshman Elin Stahl Johansson got the Pack off to a hot start, defeating Leslie Stewart and Suzanna Gracanin, 8-6. Louisville then bounced back and sealed the doubles point with wins in the final two dual matches. At No. 2 doubles, senior Danielle Stadelmann and sophomore Agustina Arechavaleta fell to Natalie Laszkowski and Kelly Taylor, 8-6. Junior Virginia Romero and freshman Julia Roach then battled Ariana Marshall and Robyn White in a close fight, but came up short, 8-6.
At No. 1 singles, Orlay, currently ranked No. 121 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, collected her third win of the spring over Stewart, 6-1, 6-1. Johansson then fell to White at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 7-5.
At No. 3 singles, Romero collected her second win of the spring after dropping the first set and battling back for the victory, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Roach then fell to Laszkowski in the No. 4 spot, 6-4, 6-0.
Arechavaleta drew Gracanin in the fifth singles match, but came up short, 6-1, 6-1. In the final one-on-one match, Stadelmann offered a strong showing against Marshall, but fell, 6-3, 6-3.
The NC State women's tennis team will look to rebound tomorrow, Feb. 5, against No. 59 Marshall. The high noon match will take place at Huntington, W.Va.
