No. 17 Tennessee Surpasses Men's Swimming, 116-97

Knoxville, Tenn. - On Sunday, Feb. 6, the NC State men's swimming and diving squad fell to No. 17 Tennessee, 116-97, on Senior Day at the UT Student Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn. The meet served as the regular season finale for the Wolfpack, which will now begin preparations for the upcoming ACC Championships.
The Wolfpack finished first in the 200-yard medley relay, led by junior Cullen Jones' time of 19.92. Jones would pace NC State again in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing first overall with a 20.73 time. Freshman Chris Schenck finished first for the red and white, and fourth overall, in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:45.25 time.
Junior Kevin Velleca finished first overall in the 100 yard backstroke with a 50.56 time, while redshirt junior Kevin Barkley, redshirt sophomore Steven Cowling and junior Andy Bauman placed fourth, sixth and seventh, respectively. In the 500-yard freestyle, NC State placed in four of the top five spots on the shoulders of seniors Peter Pessagno (second), Chris Nixon (third), and juniors Seth Hoffman (fourth) and Billy Booth (fifth).
Senior Steve House placed third overall in both the one-meter (215.39 score) and three-meter dives (249.52 score). Wolfpack swimmers senior Rob Yeager, junior Rick Scott and freshman Jack Roney placed second, third and fourth respectively in the 100 yard breaststroke.
The NC State men's swimming and diving team will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the ACC Championships in Atlanta, Ga. The four-day event runs through Saturday, Feb. 26.
