Gunning Qualifies In 3K, 5K At NY Armory

NEW YORK - The NC State indoor track & field teams took a few of its distance runners to the New Balance Collegiate Invitational Friday and Saturday at the New York Armory. Renee Gunning (Sr., Perkasie, Ohio) automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 5,000m, running a 16:06.37 to finish second. She also took third in the 3,000m with a provisional qualifying time of 9:22.86.
Kristina Roth (So., Celina, Ohio) finished 15th in the 3,000m with a time of 9:46.65 and Magin Kebert (Fr., West Lafayette, Ind.) came in 17th at 9:49.11.
Chris Kollar (R-Fr., Strongsville, Ohio) placed 21st in the men's 3,000m with a time of 8:17.64 and Wesley Smith (So, Hudson, Ohio) ran a 8:19.98 to take 23rd.
