NC State women's golf coach Page Marsh announced a stellar recruiting class of four signees in November. Cindel Gwyn, Kathleen Strandberg, Emily Street and Kristen Vincent have all signed national letters of intent to attend NC State University next fall and play golf for the Wolfpack.
Gwyn, a senior at North Myrtle Beach High in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., finished in the top 10 at the state championship all four years and helped her team finish in the top six at the state championship twice.
Strandberg, a senior at Page High in Greensboro, N.C., tied for fifth place at the 2005 state championship, leading the Pirates to a runner-up finish. The 2005 conference champion, Strandberg started the girl's golf team at Page in 2003. She set a state record in 2005 with a nine-hole score of 31, leading her team to a state record 69 at Pine Knolls Golf Club in Kernersville. Her older brother Jace is a sophomore on the NC State men's golf team.
Street, a senior at Chase High in Forest City, N.C., was the Carolina Golf Association 2004 Junior Player of the Year. She is a two-time NCHSAA regional winner and a two-time runner-up at the state championship. Street also competes in swimming and track at Chase and qualified for the state swimming championships in three events.
Vincent, a senior at Williams High in Burlington, N.C., tied for third place at the 2005 state championship, leading the Bulldogs to a sixth place finish. She helped her team win the 2005 regional championship and earned all-conference, conference player of the year, all-region, all-state and conference MVP honors. Vincent represented North Carolina in team matches against Virginia and Maryland and qualified for the U.S. Girls Junior Championship the last two years. She will join her sister Jessica at NC State, who is currently a sophomore on the Wolfpack women's golf team.
