RALEIGH, N.C. - Senior Barbara Orlay and freshman Alejandra Guerra have both been included on the recently released Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Fall Regional Rankings. In the Southeast region, Orlay is placed at No. 8 in singles. Orlay and Guerra are ranked 10th in doubles.
One of two seniors on the team, Orlay worked her way to a 9-4 record during fall singles. The 2004 All-ACC team member spent most of last season ranked in the Top 100 by the ITA.
Guerra, one of two freshmen on the squad, recorded a phenomenal 12-4 record, tops on the team, in singles play during her first stint of collegiate competition. Guerra's success seems to have parlayed from her junior career in which she won five ITF events, two in singles and three in doubles, and was a three-time singles and doubles National Champion of Mexico.
The Orlay/Guerra doubles combo boasted a 9-4 record in fall doubles.
