RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wolfpack Club is pleased to announce that Curtis and Jacqueline Dail have recently committed an additional $3.34 million to North Carolina State athletics. This donation now brings the Dails' generous contributions to over $10.5 million, putting them among the largest donors in NC State history.
"Curtis and Jackie, over the years, have been devoted contributors to NC State athletics", said Bobby Purcell, Executive Director of the NC State Student Aid Association (Wolfpack Club). "Through this gift, they continue to show their loyalty and continued support to improving the excellence of the university and its student-athletes."
In honor of their generosity, NC State University will name the following facilities in their name: Doak Field at Dail Park, Dail Plaza North and the Dail Plaza West at Carter-Finley Stadium.
"The Dails' have honored NC State with a gift that will help create facilities to continue NC State's excellence in athletics, for many years to come," said Lee Fowler, NC State Director of Athletics. "Many future generations of Wolfpack student-athletes will benefit from the Dails' charity."
Head Baseball Coach Elliott Avent stated that "due to the outstanding support of Curtis and Jackie Dail, our fund raising goals have been exceeded. The Dails' constant devotion to NC State is overwhelming."
"NC State University has always been close to our hearts," explained Curtis Dail. "Having grown up not too far from here and living in the local community for some 40 years, we have seen first hand the impact this fine university has made on the young men and women of our state."
Both Curtis and Jackie Dail grew up in Cumberland County. They moved to Garner in 1960, where the two have owned several businesses over the years.
In 1975, they started a Hardee's franchise with two locations. The company grew to 24 locations before they sold it in 1988. They are currently involved in commercial real estate in North and South Carolina, as well as being co-owners of five Batteries Plus stores.
The Dails' are members of First Presbyterian Church of Garner. Curtis has held many community and civic positions and he is currently serving on the Wolfpack Club Board of Directors. The two enjoy activities associated with the church. In addition, they each enjoy flying. Curtis has been flying for more than 15 years.
Headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., the Wolfpack Club is a non-profit organization that provides scholarship aid for NC State student-athletes and financial support for Wolfpack athletics facilities. Over 8,000 male and female students have received scholarship assistance since the organization was founded in 1936.
