Off The Court With Coach MacPherson

NC State assistant volleyball coach Fiona MacPherson recently submitted answers to GoPack.com on a variety of subjects, most having nothing to do with volleyball. The second year aide for the Wolfpack has helped increase NC State's winning percentage over the past two seasons and has played a major role in recruiting and coaching those responsible for the improved play over that time span as well. A graduate of Elon, MacPherson played there and began her coaching career with the Pheonix as well.
GoPack: What was your favorite class that you took in college?
Coach MacPherson: Theater. I took this class in England while on study abroad. We went to a play once a week and then talked about it in class. I saw some amazing plays during that time.
GoPack: If a movie were made about you, which actor would you pick to play the part of you?
Coach MacPherson: Reese Whitherspoon
GoPack: Why did you chose to come to NC State?
Coach MacPherson: NC State is a fabulous university as a whole. The ACC is also a very competitive volleyball conference and I was excited to take on the challenge. The spirit around athletics also drew me to NCSU.
GoPack: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Coach MacPherson: A professional athlete

GoPack: What has been your greatest moment outside of volleyball?
Coach MacPherson: Becoming an aunt and godmother.
GoPack: What are your pregame rituals?
Coach MacPherson: Take time to focus and pray.
GoPack: Who would you like to switch places for a day with?
Coach MacPherson: Oprah Winfrey
GoPack: What are your favorite hobbies?
Coach MacPherson: Playing sports, being with family and friends, traveling, reading, taking pictures
GoPack: If you had to give up all your possessions but one, what would you keep?

GoPack: Who has influenced you the most in life?
Coach MacPherson: My mom. She was a woman of grace and showed me the skill of knowing a time and a place for everything.
GoPack: If you could be on a reality TV show, which one would you choose?

GoPack: What event in history would you have liked to have witnessed?
Coach MacPherson: The resurrection of Jesus
GoPack: What was your favorite all-time Christmas gift?
Coach MacPherson: A family ski trip to Tahoe. It was the first time in a long time that I had spent the holidays with both my brothers and their families.
GoPack: If you could be a freshman in college again, what would you do differently?
Coach MacPherson: College was a great experience. I wouldn't change a thing.
