Raleigh, N.C. - The No. 12 NC State men's soccer team will play its final regular season game of the 2005 season, as the Pack makes the short trip to Buies Creek, N.C., to take on Campbell Wednesday night. The Pack (10-5-1, 4-3-1 ACC) jumped five sports in Soccer America's Poll up to No. 12 this week, thanks to a 2-1 win over No. 19 Wake Forest over the weekend. The Wolfpack also reappeared in the NSCAA Coaches' Poll after dropping out for a week, checking in at No. 18 this week. NC State has now been ranked six straight weeks, and reached as high as No. 7.
Campbell comes into the contest with a record of 11-4-1, and is 6-1 in Atlantic-Sun conference games. The Fighting Camels have won six of their last seven games, and are 5-1 on their home field this season, recently defeating Mercer Monday night 1-0 at Buies Creek. The Campbell offense is lead by the Guadarrama brothers, as they have accounted for 29 of the 37 goals this season. Willy currently leads the NCAA with his 19 goals, while Sonny has 10 thus far. Aaron Johnson has been solid in the nets, with a GAA of just 0.82, and only allowing 11 goals this season.
NC State leads the all-time series with Campbell by a count of 21-6-2, with NC State winning the last seven contests by a combined score of 20-2 with six shutouts. NC State holds a 9-5 advantage at games in Buies Creek, and Campbell's last win in the series was a 3-2 decision on their home field in 1983. NC State won a close game last year in Raleigh between the two school, 2-0 in early November.
NC State and Campbell will kickoff from Buies Creek at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night.
