NC State will host a Special Spectators group from a local hospital at the Middle Tennessee football game Saturday. Special Spectators, a nonprofit organization, creates a day of fun and freedom for children with cancer, leukemia, cystic fibrosis and other serious illnesses.
By designing this day, Special Spectators provides these children with a pause from the difficult struggle they face while battling their disease. Special Spectators, in conjunction with its university partners, builds a day of exciting activities surrounding a college sporting event by arranging for these youngsters to enjoy a special tailgate party, attend a game and participate in game day traditions. In addition, Special Spectators exposes student-athletes to the inspiration and reward of making a powerful contribution by arranging visits to children's hospitals or pediatric units.
The Wolfpack has an exciting day planned for the Special Spectators which will begin with a special tailgate party in the party lot located next to the NC State Fan Zone. The cheerleaders and mascots will be stopping by the tailgate party and before heading into the game, the Special Spectators might have a chance to visit with some Wolfpack student-athletes.
