Wolfpack Comes Up Short At Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. - Three NC State players had double-doubles Saturday afternoon at Clemson as the volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match 3-1. Senior middle blocker Stefani Eddins posted 19 kills and 10 blocks, senior middle blocker Adeola Kosoko put away 13 kills and 10 digs, while junior setter Melissa Rabe notched 39 assists and 10 digs. Eddins, who has led the ACC in attack percentage all year, hit a career high .667 in the match and moved into ninth place in the school records, as she passed the 300 mark in career blocks. The Wolfpack (7-19, 1-17 ACC) fell 22-30, 30-23, 28-30, 28-30 to the Tigers (11-14, 6-11 ACC).
Clemson hit .310 in game one and held NC State to a .095 team attack percentage, winning easily. The Wolfpack stormed back in the second game to hit .270 and cruised to the victory. After seven lead changes NC State had game three tied at 24-24, went up 28-25, but allowed the Tigers five straight points to concede. Up 25-21 in the fourth game the Wolfpack let Clemson escape again, as the Tigers went on a 9-3 run to win the game and the match.
Freshman outside hitter Aiwane Iboaya hit .273 for NC State with eight kills and three blocks while sophomore rightside hitter Ashley Wallace added seven blocks. Kosoko led the team with three aces and also contributed six blocks. Rabe aced two serves to go with two blocks and four kills as well.
NC State returns to action next weekend when it travels to the Sunshine State to face Florida State in Tallahassee on Nov. 18 at 7:00 p.m. and Miami in Coral Cables on Nov. 20 at 1:00 p.m.
