Raleigh, N.C. - The 12th-ranked NC State men's soccer team notched its fifth straight win of the season, and defeated visiting Boston College 3-1 Saturday night at SAS Soccer Park. After sitting through a 25-minute rain delay, the two squads scored first half goals less than a minute apart. But it was the Pack (8-3-1, 3-1-1 ACC) that found the back of the net twice in the second half for the win over the Eagles (4-5-1, 0-3-1 ACC). NC State extends its winning streak to five games, and has now won three straight ACC contests for the first time since 1997.
NC State would strike first in the 14th minute. Freshman Ronnie Bouemboue threw the ball into senior John Queeley. Queeley took a couple quick dribbles and found fellow senior Aaron King in the Eagles' penalty box. King maneuvered around the defense and netted his 12th goal of the season at the 13:58 mark.
The Pack's lead didn't stand for long, as Boston College tied the game less than a minute later. Reuben Avarna won the ball in the midfield and found forward Hadrien Toure just outside the Pack's penalty box. Toure worked his way inside, and notched the goal at the 14:40 mark.
The two teams went into the half tied 1-1.
King would strike again for NC State, and score the eventual game winner. Keeper Jorge Gonzalez started the play by throwing the ball to midfield to junior Santiago Fusilier. Fusilier then dribbled down the middle of the field and played a through ball to King just inside the Eagles' penalty box. King then found himself one-on-one with the keeper and netted the game winner at the 63:43 mark.
King recorded his second multi-goal goal of the season, and now leads the NCAA with 13 goals on the season. He continues his torrid pace of scoring goals, notching at least one in 11 of the 12 games this year, and has scored 19 goals over the last 20 games dating back to last season.
NC State would add an insurance goal in the 73rd minute, as sophomore El Hadj Cisse won the ball right at midfield and took the ball down the middle. He reached the 18-yard box and fired a laser into the left corner of the BC goal for his third of the season.
The shot count was close, as NC State held a slight 16-14 advantage. NC State's Jorge Gonzalez finished with two saves, while Boston College's Issey Maholo had six.
NC State will return to action next weekend with a trip to Virginia Tech. The Pack and Hokies will battle Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in Blacksburg, Va.
