NC State women's soccer is looking to end its tough streak at Wake Forest when it travels to Winston-Salem to take on a squad that has knocked off the Pack the last three meetings in Spry Stadium. The Pack is 1-2 after three ACC matchups and 1-1 on the road. On its last away games, NC State defeated Miami 1-0 in double overtime and lost at No. 7 Florida State 3-1. Both of NC State's losses in ACC competition have come against Top 10 teams, including the recent loss to No. 8 Duke last Sunday, 1-0. In that game, NC State was without its leading scorer, junior Carol Tognetti, as the NCAA sidelined her for accumulating five yellow cards, which requires a one-game suspension. She has a team-high four goals and one assist for nine points, including the game-winner over Miami. Freshman Lindsay Vera also has nine points, with three goals and three assists. She scored the goal in the Florida State game and assisted on Tognetti's netter against Miami. Senior Kim Selz has started in net all three ACC games and nine of her 10 overall appearances. In conference matches she has made 12 saves and allowed four goals. In her 10 appearances she has 38 saves and just seven goals allowed. To her credit she has recorded three or more saves in eight games and five or more in four contests. She had a career-high of eight against Penn.
Wake Forest is fresh off a big time win over higher ranked Boston College last Sunday. The Demon Deacs knocked off the 11th ranked Eagles, 2-1 after a scoreless first half by both squads. WFU's keeper, Kaitlyn Doe finished the match with seven saves as BC wracked up shot attempts, including 10 in the second half. WFU has scored a majority of its goals in the second half, tallying 15 to just nine in the first half. The Deacs have held opponents to just nine goals after 11 games, but three of them have come in the last four conference games. Wake's Elizabeth Remy leads the team with 15 points, including four goals and a team-best seven assists. Sarah Rozer has netted a Demon Deacons high of five goals to go along with two assists for 12 points. WFU's keeper, Doe, has posted 14 saves and three goals allowed against ACC teams and 28 saves with six goals allowed overall. Overall, Wake is 3-3 in the last six games after starting the year 4-0-1, with the tie coming against then No. 5 Santa Clara, 0-0.
