COLUMBIA, S.C. - In an effort to close out the fall schedule in strong fashion, NC State made a late push to send two singles players and two doubles combos into Sunday's championship rounds at the University of South Carolina Fall Invitational in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday, Oct. 29. Junior Agustina Arechavaleta and freshman Alejandra Guerra both picked up three singles wins to advance to the final round of play.
In Flight A1 singles, Guerra picked up three wins to advance to the championship bout. On Sunday, Oct. 30, Guerra will compete against South Carolina's Gira Schofield for the flight title. Also in Sunday's C1 championship, Arechavaleta will face Sarize Coetzee of Coastal Carolina.
As a doubles combo, Arechavaleta and Guerra will compete together for a doubles draw championship in the A flight. Senior Barbara Orlay and sophomore Julia Roach will compete for a doubles title of their own in a separate A flight bracket.
After the Wolfpack wraps up play in Columbia, head coach Hans Olsen and the women's tennis team will resume team and individual practices for the remainder of the fall in preparation for a busy and challenging spring schedule.
