Pack Cracks Top 25

Following a sixth place finish at the season-opening Cougar Classic last month with an eighth place finish at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational this past weekend, the NC State women's golf team has climbed in the rankings and now resides inside the top 25 of the Golfstat poll. The Wolfpack, currently number 22 in Golfstat's head-to-head rankings, has a record of 187-23 against Division IA teams, an adjusted scoring average of 75.33 and a schedule ranking of 23rd. NC State is currently ranked 26th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings as well.
It marks the second time the in the program's six-year history that the NC State women's golf team has reached the top 25. This time last year, after a pair of season-opening top-five finishes, the Wolfpack was ranked 23rd by Golfstat and 25th by Golfweek. NC State went on to have its best season to date with eight top-10 finishes, including a tie for third at the ACC Championship, qualifying for the NCAA East Regional for fourth straight year (14th place), and final rankings of #39 by Golfweek and #41 by Golfstat.
Stephanie Derrey leads the Wolfpack with a 74.5 stroke average through two events played this season. The sophomore from Paris, France has finished in the top-20 both times.
The Wolfpack returns to the links when a few members of the team will compete as individuals in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational Oct. 17-18 at Salisbury Country Club in Salisbury, N.C. The next team event on NC State's schedule is the Landfall Tradition, Oct. 28-30 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
