Off The Court With Shawn Carroll

Shawn Carroll a freshman on the NC State volleyball team, submitted answers to GoPack.com this past summer on a variety of subjects, most having nothing to do with volleyball. The defensive specialist from College Park, Ga., has been out all season with a leg injury. Carroll earned nine letters at Woodward Academy in College Park, Ga., four in volleyball, two in basketball and three for weightlifting. Leading the volleyball team to four straight state championships, Carroll also led the weightlifting team to the National Championship in their women's team school age division. The team captain and MVP for the volleyball squad, Carroll earned all-area and All-South Metro honors as a senior. She also played two years with the North Atlanta Volleyball Club.
GoPack: If a movie were made about your life, which actor would you want to play the part of you?
SC: Natalie Portman
GoPack: Why did you choose to come to NC State?
SC: My new teammates, the great business program and the beautiful campus
GoPack: When you were a kid, what did you want to be a when you grew up?
SC: Veterinarian
GoPack: Nobody knows how much you like to what?
SC: Design clothes
GoPack: What has been your most embarrassing moment on the court?
SC: Walking backwards I tripped on my own two feet, completely wiped out and stopped play for a few minutes so that everyone could stop laughing. Even more embarrassing is that my parents have it on tape and like to show it to people from time to time.
GoPack: What has been your greatest moment outside of volleyball?
SC: My high school graduation
GoPack: What are your pregame rituals?
SC: I drink water for 14 seconds because that is my lucky number
GoPack: Who would you like to switch places for a day with?
SC: Zac Posen
GoPack: If you had to give up all your possessions but one, what would you keep?
SC: My picture albums
GoPack: Who has influenced you the most in life?
SC: My mother, she has made many sacrifices for me in order to help me to achieve my dreams. When I'm a mother I would hope that I could do the same for my children.
GoPack: If you could be on a reality TV show, which one would you choose?
SC: Project Runway

SC: In Style
GoPack: What event in history would you have liked to have witnessed?
SC: The 1980 US Olympic hockey team beating the USSR - The Miracle Team

SC: My Marble Works

SC: A fashion designer
