RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's soccer travels to Maryland on Thursday, Oct. 13, for a 7 p.m. match in College Park, Md. The Wolfpack, fresh off a 4-2 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday, will enter the match with an overall record of 6-7-0 and 2-3-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Maryland, coming off a 2-0 loss at Miami on Sunday, is 3-8-2 and 1-3-1 in ACC action. NC State leads the all-time series 13-5-5 entering the 24th all-time meeting and is 5-2-1 at Maryland.
The Wolfpack tallied four goals against Virginia Tech on Sunday; ending a two-match scoreless streak, while posting the most goals since a 5-0 win at High Point in the season opener. Senior Lydia McBath and freshman Lindsay Vera netted two goals apiece, including one in each half. McBath scored the match's first goal and the game-winner to bring her season total to three. Vera moved up to become the Wolfpack's top goal scorer with five on the year. She also leads the team with 13 total points. Sophomore Jessica O'Rourke owns a team-high four assists. Senior Kim Selz has received the starting nod 11 of the 12 matches and all five of the ACC meetings. She owns a goals against average of 0.87 after allowing 10 goals to hit net this season, while making 52 saves, including eight against Virginia Tech. She has posted eight saves twice this season, the first coming at Penn on Sept. 18. NC State is 2-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in ACC games on the road in 2005.
The Terrapins are 1-2 in their last three matches, which includes a recent 2-0 loss at Miami, a 4-0 loss to No. 1 North Carolina and a 1-0 victory over No. 11 Wake Forest, both home games. Maryland has scored just two goals in the last six games. Senior Kimmy Francis is leading the Terps with seven points. The 2004 second team All-ACC member has posted two goals and three assists. Sophomore midfielder Nataly Arias also has two goals, including one game-winner. Junior goalkeeper Nikki Resnick has made 11 starts and in that time allowed 20 goals while making 66 saves, including six against Miami on Sunday.
NC State returns home to SAS Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. for a 1 p.m. match against the No. 14 Boston College on Sunday, Oct. 16. The Pack and Eagles are 1-1 all-time.
