Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State gymnastics team took a few days off for fall break, but once Monday rolled around everybody was back in the gym getting ready for the first meet in January. Assistant coach Todd Henry took the time to give us an update on how the team is doing.
Henry: The kids are returning from fall break last weekend, which has given me a chance to reflect on the past month in the gym. The staff is very happy with the progress everyone has made. I have to give a really big GOOD JOB to Heather Zolton and Kelsey Lee. The work ethic, attitude and overall joy to work with are astounding over last year. They both are acting like seasoned veterans!
We are nursing a few little problems (shoulders and backs) but nothing to serious. Our problems are similar to every other program in the country. The goal is to keep everyone healthy while also pushing them. Our kids are tough!
NC State might have one or two surprises on the team this year. As a coach you always think about what the incoming freshman might and hope bring to the table. Elyse Adams and Ashley Shepard have been an utter shock to our team! They have brought skills and a tremendous energy to the gym. These two are pushing for a line up spot!
Go Pack!
