Raleigh, N.C. - With the 2005 gymnastics season right around the corner, the Pack is back in the gym working hard to prepare for what promises to be a successful season. New assistant gymnastics coach Todd Henry will be filling us in on the Wolfpack's progress as NC State looks forward to not only a new season, but the Pack will also host the EAGL Championships.
Todd's Team Update!
Well, here we are at the end of September and all the kids are really doing well. We have a few gymnasts that are feeling the preseason workouts. There are lots of sore shoulders and ankles. The kids have really taken to a few changes Mark Stevenson and I have made going into this new season. The workouts are a bit more structured and goal oriented than in the past. We have spoken to the team about setting higher standards in and out of the gym, and it seems everybody is up to the task.
On another note, our practice gym is really coming along. The restoration is almost complete! Mike Ferralli, our volunteer coach has done a remarkable job overseeing the construction project. We have added tramp, tumbling, beam and vaulting areas along with a single bar that all dismount into foam pits. This allows us to try out better skills with less chance of injury. All the kids really LOVE being able to flip and twist in this updated area of the gym.
Until next time ... Go Pack!!!
