Wolfpack Names McLaughlin Assistant Swimming Coach

RALEIGH, N.C. - Jacqueline McLaughlin has joined the NC State swimming and diving team as an assistant coach, returning to her alma mater after five years of coaching experience at the collegiate level and with club teams.McLaughlin spent the last two seasons as the assistant head coach at Davidson College before joining head coach Brooks Teal in Raleigh. "Jacqui is a excellent addition to our staff," head coach Brooks Teal remarked. "As a NC State alum she comes in with a love for the Wolfpack and we are delighted to welcome her back into our team family. Jacqui did a super job at Davidson, and also worked on the staff of the powerful Mecklenburg Aquatic Club, one of the top club programs in the country. I am sure she will have an immediate positive impact on Wolfpack Swimming and Diving and I look forward to working with her." McLaughlin, a native of Blacksburg, Va., was an assistant coach at Davidson College since 2002, before being promoted to assistant head coach for 2003-2004. She facilitated the administrations of practice on a daily basis while designing and implementing training of sprinters and the dryland training of distance women. While at Davidson, she helped lead the Wildcats to its highest finish in the CAA Championship, and helped produce the first CAA Champion in school history. "I'm excited about returning to NC State as a coach," McLaughlin said. "The Wolfpack swimming and diving program is heading in the right direction and it's great to be a part of its success now and into the future." While at Davidson, she served as assistant coach at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club in Charlotte, N.C., producing the age group sectional champions, the North Carolina Swimming State Champions and the North Carolina Swimming Team of the Year in 2002 and 2003. Prior to her stint at Davidson, McLaughlin was an assistant coach for Memphis Tiger Swimming from 2000-2002 while earning her Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Memphis. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering from NC State in May of 1999.
