CONCORD, Mass. - Briana Vega won the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts Amateur Championship last week, beating Mary Gale 6 and 4 in the final at Concord Country Club. Vega, a North Andover, Mass., native, finished her career at NC State this past spring and will turn pro this November, joining the Futures Tour. Picking up a pair of birdies and an eagle in the first five holes, all of which she won, Vega took an insurmountable lead. Her eagle came on the par-5, 424-yard fifth hole, which she reached the green of in two strokes. "This was a big goal of mine for the whole summer. I'm glad I accomplished it," Vega said. "This is pretty big because I haven't won anything since I was in junior (tournaments). So it's pretty big to break through and win before I turn pro."
