With the weather misbehaving NC State missed out on a match against Coastal Carolina on Sunday, thus providing a day of needed rest in between its three matches in five days. The Wolfpack had played a double overtime match against Campbell, leading to a 1-1 tie in the season opener for both teams on Friday, Aug. 27. Freshman Alex Caram took home her first career goal as she volleyed off a rebound near the top of the box. NC State will face Howard on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 3:30 p.m., pending any further weather delays. The Wolfpack defeated the Bison last season, 6-1 and is 1-0-0 all-time against the Washington D.C. team. The game also marks the first of 11 home games for the Wolfpack and the first of seven at SAS Soccer Stadium.
Howard, 0-0-1, is coming off a 7-1 loss at home against Georgetown on Friday, Aug. 27. Junior midfielder Michelle Williston scored the Bison's only goal in the season opener. Howard returns eight starters and 16 letterwinners from a 2003 squad that finished 5-13 last year. Senior Raneika Bean was the team's leading scorer with 11 goals. Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Walton will be in the net for Howard. She accounted for 115 saves and a 3.58 GAA in her sophomore campaign. The Bison will host University of Maryland-Baltimore after traveling to NC State.
