RALEIGH, N.C. -
What team are you playing with?
Salinas Storm Gold
What type of team is it?
Travel ball team for 18 under Gold
Are you enjoying it?
Yes a very fun and different experience
How has your experience been in the Bay area?
Great.. Lots of different things to do and see.
What have you done that you would want your fans at NC State to know about that is exciting?
I broke my Worth bat in half. And it went towards the shortstop and rolled into the outfield.
How have the workouts been going?
Great... we have a scheduled routine that we do everyday and it helps. We wake up then run then lift. Then the rest of the day is ours!
What are you doing in your workouts?
We run miles and miles. Lift tons of weights... plus practice 2 times a week with the team and then play every weekend!!
Have you improved your skills because of the additional playing time out there?
Definitely. The competition out here is at a level where you have to continue to get better... it's not quite like college ball but it is the closest thing to it. The live game situations help me as a catcher to refine my skills and to get more comfortable back there so when the fall and spring come I totally ready. Plus I get to catch Shaina everyday which helps us both to become better together!
Are you missing NC State, Raleigh, the coaches?
Yes I miss NC State a lot. The college atmosphere was so great and I can't wait to be back. I do miss the coaches. They were such good teachers of the game and good role models so its hard not to have them here to watch your every move or to tell you stuff in general about the game but I do talk to them and so its not as bad as I thought it would be. I really can't wait to see all of them!
What has been your favorite tournament or game?
My favorite tournament was the one in Las Vegas. I had never been there before and the atmosphere was great. There's nothing like playing in 107 degree weather. Reminded me of home!
Anything big happen during one of your games? (such as a grand slam, no-hitter, etc.)
In these tournaments they don't have fences so in one game in Las Vegas I hit a shot of centerfield and it went into the playground and for the first time in my life I got a in the park home run!
What do you miss most about North Carolina?
Sweet tea and Ya'll!!
What do you miss least about North Carolina?
The rain!
What do you like most about the bay area?
Giants Stadium
What do you like least about the bay area?
Traffic
What are you looking forward to next season?
Winning 45 plus games... playing with new teammates who are going to make all the difference to our team so we will be playing at the end of May next year!!
What are some team and personal goals for next year?
Team: being fighters and playing together... personal... consistency with every game!! And be a good team leader...
What did you learn after your first year as collegiate athlete?
That hard work pays off. That you can't control other people only yourself and if you do that then things will work out. Play your game and don't let anything affect that!!
