Track Comes Away With Four NCAA Regional Marks

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State track and field team was very busy this past weekend, competing in the North Carolina Central Last Chance Meet on Friday and at the Carolina Classic on Saturday. The Wolfpack came away with four NCAA Regional qualifying marks, and also set a new school record in the women's discus.
The men's side had a strong day in the throws at NC Central's Last Chance Meet. James Rowell notched a NCAA Regional mark in the discus with a heave of 183'08" for a first place showing. Mitchell Pope also had a NCAA Regional mark with his toss of 61'04" in the shot put, also good for first. At Carolina's Classic Invite on Saturday, Eric Hoverstad recorded his first NCAA Regional mark of the season in the pole vault, when he cleared 16'04.75".
Kelly Smoke broke her own school record in the women's discus Friday night at NC Central's Last Chance Meet. In the process, Smoke earned a NCAA Regional mark with her toss of 157'02" for the first place finish. Smoke also captured first in the shot put with a toss of 46'07".
