Raleigh, N.C. - The 2003-2004 cheerleading season ended in exciting fashion when the NC State cheerleading team finished second at the NCA Collegiate National Competition March 31-April 4 in Daytona Beach, Florida. The National Cheerleaders Association has been administering the most prestigious cheer and dance national championships in the country. Teams from throughout the world have come together to compete for national titles in a variety of divisions.
During the preliminary competition, the Wolfpack scored an 8.71, which put them in second place leading into the finals. In the final round competition on April 2, the team scored an 8.95 to finish tied for second in the competition. NC State finished only behind 10-time national champion University of Louisville.
This season-ending achievement followed the early season success of the cheerleading team. At the NCA Summer Camp, the Wolfpack placed first in the Spirit Routine. The Pack then received a third place score in the NCA Division 1-A Skills Tape Competition. These finishes allowed the team to receive a paid bid to the NCA Collegiate National Competition in Daytona Beach.
Team captains for the 2003-2004 season included Chris Gregory, Jon Rolle and Lauren Allen.
