Raleigh, N.C. - A total of five NC State gymnasts were honored by the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) on the conference's All-EAGL squads. The Wolfpack had a first team selection on both vault and bars, while four other gymnasts represented five spots on the second teams for beam, floor and the all-around. In addition, senior Marlyn Madey was named the EAGL Scholar-Athlete Award winner.
Madey is a second year student in grad school. She has a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursuing her Master's degree in Public Administration. In addition to her scholar athlete award, Madey also was honored for her contributions as an athlete. For the second straight season, Madey was named All-EAGL first-team on bars. This season she was also named All-EAGL second-team for the all-around, this being the first year she has competed in the all-around.
Another NC State gymnast competing in the all-around for the first time in her career, sophomore Kylah Bachman, was also named to the All-EAGL second-team in the all-around. Bachman also earned a spot on the All-EAGL second-team for floor.
Freshman Rachel Katz was named to the All-EAGL first-team for vault. Katz has been the Pack's top performer on vault all season, winning four titles, including three of the last four meets, and notching a team-high score of 9.95.
Finally, the duo of senior Leah Sabo and junior Cori Goldstein were also honored. Sabo was named to the All-EAGL second-team for beam, after earning that same honor on floor and the all-around last season. Goldstein was named to the All-EAGL second-team on floor, the third straight year she has done so.
The No. 23 NC State gymnastics team will bid for their third conference title tonight at Pittsburgh.
