Charlotte, N.C. - Despite losing the doubles point for the first time in three dual matches this season, NC State fought back, winning four of the six singles matches in women's tennis. NC State improved to 3-0 on the season with the road win on February 8. Barbara Orlay, Vania Apodaca and Jennifer Jassawalla won in straight sets as the Wolfpack rallied after falling behind 1-0 after dropping the doubles point.
Orlay would make it 1-1 on the afternoon, dispatching Kelly Fillnow at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Apodaca would win easily at No. 4, downing Lindsey Powel 2 and 2. Jassawalla would soon follow suit, winning her match at No. 5 over Kate Levitt, 6-2, 7-5.
With the Wolfpack holding a 3-1 advantage, it was Davidson's turn to go to work, winning in three sets at No. 6 and No. 3 before Kristin Lam's win at No. 2 sealed the deal. Agustina Arechavaleta would lose to Katherine Hatch after winning the first set 6-1. Hatch would close the match with a 6-4, 6-3 finish to pull the Wildcats close. Despite Nandita Chandrasekar losing at No. 3 singles 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, NC State was assured the win as Lam dispatched Maggie Patterson.
Lam won easily in the first set blanking Patterson, but the latter would respond, winning the second set 7-5. Lam would then work deep into the third set, winning 6-4 as the Wolfpack improved to 3-0.
