Wolfpack Seeks Seventh-Straight;Travels to Georgia Tech

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's basketball, 16-11 and 8-6 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, will travel to Atlanta this Thursday, Feb. 26, for a 7 p.m. start at Georgia Tech, 13-13, 4-9. The Wolfpack won the first meeting back on Feb. 1, 75-71. That win sparked a six-game winning streak for the Wolfpack. The game will be televised live on FOX Sports South and will of course be heard on the Wolfpack's flagship station, WKNC 88.1 FM with Patrick Kinas and Kristen Gillespie.
NC State is riding a six-game winning streak and has eight of its last nine games, including four at home and three on the road. Senior center Kaayla Chones continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding with averages of 15.0 ppg and 7.6 rpg. She ranks fourth in the ACC in scoring and third in rebounding. Senior Nanna Rivers has been dishing it out all season and has posted a 33 to 7 assist/turnover ratio in the past six games. The guard is ranked second in the ACC with her 1.78 A/TO ratio. Freshman Marquetta Dickens has been assisting the Pack considerably in its ACC turnaround. In addition to being the team's second leading scorer with an average of 8.1 ppg and 9.5 ppg in ACC games, she has improved her scoring average by more than three points per game from the first half to the second half, going from 8.1 ppg to 11.5 ppg. NC State is 15-8 versus Georgia Tech on the road. The last road win was three years ago on Feb. 15, 2001, 74-68. NC State owns the all-time series 37-14. The win at home on Feb. 1, ended the Pack's three-game losing streak versus the Yellow Jackets and sparked a six game winning streak.
Georgia Tech has lost five of its last seven contests, including two-straight recently. On Monday, the Yellow Jackets lost to the No. 11 North Carolina Tar Heels, 58-56. The team's second leading scorer, senior Alex Stewart recorded a game-high 18 points, had five rebounds and six assists to lead the Georgia Tech squad. Sophomore guard Megan Harpring added a team-high six boards. Senior forward Fallon Stokes is leading the team in both scoring and rebounding with her 16.5 ppg and 6.3 rpg. Stewart is leading the ACC in assists, dishing out 5.77 per game and 150 total for the season. Sophomore forward Kasha Terry leads the conference in blocked shots, stopping an average of 2.4 per contest overall and a bettered 2.71 blocks a game in ACC games only. The previous loss came at Clemson, 59-47. In three of GT's recent losses, the Wramblin' Wreck has been held to fewer than 50 points scored. Prior to the two-straight losses, GT had won two-straight at home with wins against Virginia and Maryland.
