Women's Golf Leads Saguaro Classic After First Round

Tucson, Ariz. - The NC State women's golf team is in first place after the first round of the NC State Saguaro Classic that the Wolfpack is hosting at the par 70, 6,029 yard Dell Urich Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz. With a 14-over par score of 294, NC State has a four-stroke lead in the seven-team field. Ashlee Dean and Molly Birmingham are first and second respectively in the individual standings after day one, as Dean shot a one-under par score of 69 and Birmingham was one over.
Briana Vega, Courtney Pomeranz and Lorraine Ballerano round out the rest of the Wolfpack lineup and all tied for 14th place with a 77 in the first round. Colby Cobb and Margaux Hennessey are playing the tournament as individuals and Cobb is tied for sixth with a 76 and Hennessey carded an 82 in the opening round.
Play continues Monday with the second round and the tournament will conclude with a final 18 holes on Tuesday. Results will eventually be posted each night at www.GoPack.com.
