Mario Williams, a sophomore defensive end from Richlands, N.C., was named a honorable mention All-American by Pro Football Weekly. Williams, a 2004 first-team all-ACC selection, led the Wolfpack in tackles for loss (16 for 77 yards) and was tied for the team lead with seven sacks. The 6-7, 271 pound defensive end was an integral part of the nation's No. 1 ranked defense.
Pro Football Weekly's All-America team was selected by PFW personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki, who consulted with NFL evaluators and put in hours of film study to select players based on talent, production and value to their team. Other All-American qualities such as leadership, resiliency, toughness, competitiveness and character were weighed heavily.
The Pro Football Weekly 2004 All-America team is highlighted in the latest issue of PFW. The Dec. 20th issue is on newsstands now.
