Caterpillar is proud to partner with NC State to present a program that honors the achievements of our student-athletes in the classrooms as well as on the playing fields. Each month two Wolfpack Scholar athletes will be selected as a member of the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team. To be named to the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.00 GPA for at least one semester and be a full-time student at NC State.
During the Spring 2004 semester 236 Wolfpack Student Athletes achieved a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher and 118 student-athletes were Dean's List honorees.
This month Caterpillar and NC State are proud to honor Softball's Laura Klem and Track's John Crews.
Sophomore Laura Klem sure knows how to turn two. As a second baseman on the NC State Women's Softball team she can turn a doubleplay with the best of them. And in the classroom, the native of Huntingburg, Indiana knows how to put up good numbers as well. Laura has compiled a 3.56 Total Grade Point Average in her Accounting major. She also received a NSCA Scholar Athlete Award, given to students with a 3.5 Total Grade Point Average or better. Among Laura's other honors are being named to the NC State Dean's List during the fall semester of 2003 and spring of 2004, plus making the ACC Honor Roll during the 2003-04 year.
John Crews is a redshirt freshman on the NC State Men's Track team. He specializes in the distance events. In the classroom, the Mechanical Engineering major has gone the distance as well compiling a 4.00 Total Grade Point Average. The native of Glasgow, Virginia studied abroad in Spain this past summer. John made the NC State Dean's List in the fall of 2003 and spring of 2004, and was also on the ACC Honor Roll during the 2003-04 year.
Congratulations to both Laura and John and all the other Caterpillar Scholar Athletes.
Caterpillar and NC State ... partnering to make progress possible.
