The NC State men's soccer team shutout visiting Campbell 2-0 Wednesday afternoon at Method Road Soccer Stadium. The Pack (7-7-2) used goals from juniors Aaron King and Federico Peria to gain the non-conference win over the Fighting Camels (5-10-1). The NC State defense was strong all day, not only recording the sixth shutout of the season, including the second straight, but Campbell did not register a shot on goal the entire contest.
NC State would score its first goal of the contest at the 11:00 mark. Junior John Queeley found Aaron King on the right wing. King then dribbled into the box and fired a shot low, into the right corner of the net. The goal was King's team-leading ninth of the season, and his third game-winner this year.
The Wolfpack would add an insurance goal at the 61:20 mark. After a Campbell foul just outside the 18-yard line, Federico Peria had a free kick from the left side from about 20 yards out. Peria curled the ball around the wall and tucked it just inside the right post for his fourth goal of the season.
Junior Jorge Gonzalez recorded the shutout in goal for NC State without recording any saves. Brandon Kirksey had a strong in the Camel's net, with his seven saves, including many one-on-one chances.
NC State will host its final conference game of the season this weekend. The Pack will face Virginia Tech this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Method Road.
