LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The NC State opened its 2004-05 season Monday with the opening round of the Windon Memorial Classic at the par 71, 6,849-yard Conway Farms Golf Club, outside of Chicago. The Wolfpack got off to a sluggish start, shooting 25-over-par in the first round, good for a share of 16th place out of 18 teams. Sophomore Jerry Richardson led the team with a five-over score and he is tied for 16th.
Stephen Lewton and Banks Wood are one stroke behind Richardson and Garry Hill is two strokes behind them.
Scheduled to play 36 holes today, the tournament was playing slow and most likely will run out of daylight before completing the second round. Action will resume Tuesday and conclude with a third and final round on Tuesday as well, if time allows.
LSU leads the field with a three-over total. Bronson LaCassie from Minnesota is in first place at two-under. Complete results from the Windon Memorial Classic will be available at www.nusports.com.
