Maryland Sweeps NC State, 3-0

Junior middle blocker Rachel Wagener finished with a match-high 12 kills off a .611 attack percentage to lead Maryland past NC State, 3-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball action Sunday afternoon at Reynolds Coliseum. The loss dropped the Wolfpack to 10-7 overall, 0-4 in conference play, while the Terrapins improved to 7-7, 2-2 in the ACC.
NC State took an early lead in game one, only to see Maryland battle back to force a 7-7 tie. The Terps would regain the lead moments later and never looked back, winning 30-19. More of the same came in the second contest as Maryland built a 21-12 lead. But this time, the Pack came back and pulled within seven, before losing by the score of 30-21. Then in game three, with the score knotted at 13 a piece, Maryland pulled away and closed the door on NC State, taking the contest with a 30-19 victory.
Senior middle blocker Sarah Ensminger finished the match with a team-high nine kills off a .350 attack percentage for the Wolfpack. Junior outside hitter Kayla Ragan added seven kills, while junior middle blocker Stefani Eddins stepped up defensively with five block assists and one solo. Freshman setter Lauren Markowski dished out 27 assists.
Meanwhile, the Terps also picked up strong play from senior outside hitter Sarah Treadwell, who finished with 10 kills and eight digs. Maryland received an added effort on the defensive side of the net from junior outside hitter Rachel Moore, who had 13 digs, and junior middle blocker Stephanie Smith, who racked up 10 total blocks. Setter Aimee Huddleston led the Terrapins with 32 assists on the afternoon.
The Wolfpack remains home as it plays host to ACC rival North Carolina Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
