The Terrapins are 12-6 and 4-3 in the ACC. The game will be televised live on FOX Sports Net South and the Sunshine Network, in addition to live audio on the Wolfpack's flagship station, WNKC 88.1. NC State, 9-10 overall and 1-5 in the ACC, picked up its first Atlantic Coast Conference victory this season with a convincing 79-64 win at Florida State on Monday. It was a night of offensive prowess for the Wolfpack which showcased both the inside dominance of Kaayla Chones and the perimeter range and penetration of Rachel Stockdale and Kendra Bell. All three players finished in double figures. Chones led both teams with her 23 points, just two shy of her season-high. She also finished a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe, had a career-tying three steals and added a game-high nine rebounds. The center has been leading the team all season in both scoring and rebounding with averages of 15.1 ppg and 7.8 rpg. Freshman Marquetta Dickens has become a full time starter for the Pack, taking the three spot for five of the team's six ACC contests. She is ranked second on the team scoring average with 7.5 ppg and 9.5 ppg in ACC games. Dickens also leads the team in three-point field goal percentage with her 43.2 percent on 16-of-37 shooting. Chones needs just three rebounds to eclipse the 800-rebound plateau. The Wolfpack fell at Maryland last year and then won at home to even the series. The Pack owns a 19-4 advantage over the Terps at home and hasn't lost in Reynolds to Maryland since Jan. 25, 2001, 57-56.
The Maryland Terrapins, 12-6 overall and 4-3 in the ACC, will enter Reynolds Coliseum fresh off a 78-48 loss at No. 1 Duke on Thursday. With just one player finishing in double figures, the Terps dropped their third ACC contest of the year. The Terps are led by two top scoring freshmen, Shay Doron and Kalika France. Doron led Maryland's scoring effort at Duke with 17 points and she currently leads the Terps with 12.7 ppg. France is next in line with an average of 12.2 ppg and in addition, leads the team in rebounds with 5.6 rpg. Doron has been the team's leading scorer in six games this season, which includes three ACC games. Junior Alli Spence is leading the team with 3.7 assists per appearance. Maryland is a solid free throw shooting team posting an ACC leading 74.3 percent. Doron and France have been to the line 187 times and both shoot over 70 percent. The Terrapins are also the front-runners from behind the arc in the ACC, hitting 39.4 percent on 95-of-241 shooting. Spence has made 31 of her 61 attempts this year. The Terps opened the ACC docket with three-straight victories, including NC State, Virginia and at Wake Forest before falling at Florida State. The squad then defeated Georgia Tech at home before losing to UNC and most recently at Duke. They are on a two-game losing streak.
