Track Sees Action at UNC Fast Times

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The NC State track and field team was back in action this past weekend, competing at the North Carolina Fast Times held at Chapel Hill. The Wolfpack had many competitors in the field events for both the men's and women's squads, plus a handful of runners competing.
The Wolfpack had an excellent showing in the 60 meters on the women's side, with three runners recording top-10 finishes. Senior Felicia Fant was the Pack's top finisher, with her time of 7.49 for third. Freshmen Courtney Patterson (7.58) and Joya Rodgers (7.71) were close behind in fourth and 10th place. Nasheena Quick took 15th in the 60 meter hurdles with her time of 8.94. In the mile it was Janelle Vadnais in 13th (5:19.10), Leslie Jimison in 15th (5:21.45), and Sara Graybill in 16th (5:26.20).
Once again Kelly Smoke had an impressive outing. Smoke took third in both the shot put (46'06") and the weight throw (60'10"). Her toss in the weight throw was a NCAA Provisional mark as well. Also in the weight throw, Brie Ward was 10th (45'07.75"). Sheena Dawkins was eighth in the long jump with a top mark of 18'00.25", while Teresa Reed was eighth in the pole vault (11'05.75"). In the high jump it was Laila Thomas and Joann Jackson each clearing 5'04.25" and tying for ninth.
On the men's side, Steve Taylor had a top showing with his second place finish in the pole vault clearing 16'00.75". Also in the pole vault, Eric Hoverstad placed fifth (15'01"). Another top result for the Wolfpack was Chris Crawford in the shot put. Crawford finished third with a top heave of 47'03.75". NC State also had a strong showing in the weight throw, with all three throwers placing in the top-12. James Rowell finished fifth (55'04.25"), Crawford was ninth (50'06"), and Mitchell Pope was 12th (48'11"). Michael Hill was seventh in the triple jump (46'11.75").
In the sprints, Antwan Graves took 20th in the 60 meter hurdles (8.74), while Monterrio Adams was 23rd in the 60 meters (7.06). Jeff Baird was 16th in the 400 meters running a 51.06. In the 800 meters, Sajid Reshamwala was sixth (1:58.00).
