The NC State women's soccer team (5-2-1) will face No. 7 Virginia (6-1-1) at Method Road on Friday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m. Virginia is currently second in the Atlantic Coast Conference behind No. 1 North Carolina, while NC State stands in fourth. This is the first ACC contest for either team.

Senior forward Lindsey Underwood enters the game as the team's leading scorer with six goals and four assists. Junior forward Erin Griswold and freshman defender Megan Buescher lead the team with five assists apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Megan Connors has received the starting nod the past four games, posting a .71 GAA after nine saves and three goals allowed.
Virginia enters the match after four-straight wins coming from No. 2 Santa Clara, No. 22 Southern California, Dartmouth and Harvard. The Cavaliers have outscored their last four opponents, 11-1. Sophomore midfielder Kelly Hammond leads the team with 11 points (4g, 3a), while junior forward Lindsay Gusick is close behind with 10 points from her four goals and two assists. UVa's netminder, senior Anne Abernethy has been solid in their eight games, making 21 saves while allowing just four goals.
Virginia leads the series 12-13-2 since the two teams first met in 1984.
