The NC State women' soccer team (5-1-1) will travel to Columbia, S.C. on Sunday, Sept. 21, for a 12:30 p.m. match versus South Carolina (3-3-1).
The Wolfpack improved its record Friday night after a 4-0 shutout over visiting Campbell. Freshmen midfielders Carol Tognetti and Katherine Spencer recorded their first career goals, while senior Lindsey Underwood and junior Erin Griswold each upped their point totals with a goal each. Freshman goalkeeper Megan Connors earned her first career shutout and second career win after making two saves and stopping two would-be goals. Sophomore forward Erin Ardler assisted twice during the game.
South Carolina heads into the match with a 3-3-1 record. The squad is coming off a 4-1 decision over Davidson on Sept. 17 and a 1-1 tie versus Houston on Sept. 14. Freshman midfielder Shelly Hoddeson has started all seven matches for USC and currently leads the team with three goals. Redshirt junior defender Sarah Lentz leads the team with two assists.
Before entering the match on Sunday, both NC State and South Carolina picked up wins against Charleston Southern earlier in the year. Both teams won by a score of 2-1.
After visiting South Carolina, the Wolfpack returns home to face nationally ranked Virginia at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26.
