Pack Opens Fall Play With St. Mary's Fall Classic

The Wolfpack Women's tennis team will open fall tournament play on Friday at the St. Mary's Women's Fall Tennis Classic in Knoxville, Tennessee. All 11 members of the team are scheduled to compete in the event. The tournament consists of eight singles flights and a three-person round-robin draw. Competitors will also play in a three- or four-flight doubles draw.
Newcomer Barbara Orlay will face UNC's No. 31 Aniela Mojzis in Flight One. Orlay, a sophomore, is one of two transfers the Pack acquired from Charleston Southern. Redshirt junior Kristin Lam will face Helga Viera of Texas A&M in Flight Two, and Nandita Chandrasekar will take on Wake Forest's Ashlee Davis.
Senior Jennifer Jassawalla will also face ACC competition, going up against Lee Bairos of North Carolina in the fourth flight. Sophomore Virginia Romero is schedule to compete with Nicki Mechem of Texas A&M, and junior Danielle Stadelmann will take on Purdue's Brittany Reitz. Stadelmann won the Flight Four draw in last year's tournament, with three consecutive wins. Freshman Agustina Arechavaleta will battle Tanya Markovic in Flight Seven action. Three Wolfpackers will compete in the eighth flight, with Carmen Torres meeting Danielle Lee of Texas A&M, Taylor Parker taking on Dlakely Offutt of Wake Forest, and Lauren Berry facing Ohio State's Lindsay Bryan.
Allison Berry will compete in a three-person round robin event, with her first match scheduled for Saturday against Emily Howard of Ohio State. Sunday she will face Tennessee's Melinda Morrow.
Action is scheduled to commence Friday morning at 8 a.m.
