Track Records Six NCAA Regional Qualifying Marks

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State track and field team competed in both the Cardinal Invitational at Stanford and the Georgia Invitational this past weekend. The Wolfpack brought home four NCAA regional qualifying marks from Stanford, and two more from Georgia.
All four participants that competed at Stanford recorded NCAA regional times. Andy Smith finished seventh in the 'A' flight of the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:39.80, almost 10 seconds better then his top time this season. Ricky Brookshire captured third in the 'B' flight of the 3,000 meter steeplechase with his time of 8:52.24. Chad Pearson finished 14th in the 5,000 meters with his time of 14:22.84. On the women's side at Stanford, Beth Fonner ran the fastest 5,000 meter time this season for NC State with a 16:43.38 for ninth place.
A few members of the track team competed at Georgia on Saturday. Freshman Jesse Williams won the high jump by clearing 7'00.50". Williams notched another NCAA regional qualifying mark, his sixth one of the season. Also earning a NCAA regional mark was David Kessler in the pole vault. Kessler was fifth with a top mark of 16'00.75". Also in the pole vault, Eric Hoverstad was sixth (15'07") and Justin Farmer was seventh (15'01"). John Henderson won the 3,000 meter steeplechase with his time of 9:28.67.
