Salem, Virginia-The 2003 ACC Baseball Championship has been stopped in its tracks almost before it began. A weather system that promises to bring plenty of rain to the Salem, Virginia area has forced league officials to postpone all four games that were scheduled for Wednesday, including NC State's scheduled 8:30 meeting with Virginia. The forecast, which calls for more rain on Thursday, could force the ACC to use two ballparks with games being played simultaneously once the weather clears up.
Salem's new Memorial Stadium was slated to host all of the games through the weekend, but officials are now considering the possibility of using Kiwanis Field as well.
In Tuesday night's do or die play-in game, No. 9 seed Duke downed Maryland 5-3. The Blue Devils will now advance to face top-seeded Florida State. NC State (39-14, 15-9), which is seeded 3rd, is scheduled to send redshirt freshman Michael Rogers (10-3, 2.76) to the mound against Virginia (28-23, 11-12) ace Joe Koshansky (7-1, 1.52), who beat the Pack earlier this season in Charlottesville.
All of NC State's games in the ACC Tournament can be heard in the Triangle area on WKNC 88.1 fm and via the Internet on GOPACK.com.
