NC State Baseball Cracks The Top 10

NC State has moved up to No. 9 in the national rankings after sweeping Duke this past weekend. Vern Sterry (left) beat Duke on Sunday to improve to 8-0, and David Hicks (right) raked the Blue Devils for 10 hits in the series, including five doubles.

RALEIGH, N.C. - Having won 22 of its last 25 games and sporting a 27-7 overall won-lost record, the NC State baseball team has jumped into the national top 10 this week, reaching No. 9 in the latest Collegiate Baseball poll. The Wolfpack was 12th a week ago.

In addition, NC State is ranked No. 14 by Baseball America, which had the Wolfpack at 15th last week.

Other ACC teams in the national rankings include Florida State (No. 2 in CB, No. 3 in BA), Georgia Tech (5 and 14), Clemson (13 and 18) and Wake Forest (19 and 24). The Wolfpack takes on the Demon Deacons in Winston-Salem this weekend. The Pack already has taken two of three from Florida State and Clemson.

NC State was ranked No. 15 by USA Today Sports Weekly, which ranked NC State 18th a week ago.
