RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's basketball head coach, Kay Yow, has announced the signing of Darline Jasmin, a 6-2 forward (Miami, Fla./Miami-Dade Community College) in the late signing period.
"The addition of Darline to our roster will give us some much needed depth inside," said Yow. "She is a great offensive rebounder, a good defender, and finishes well around the basket. We are very happy to have such an excellent student with great character joining our program."
Jasmin joins the four 2003 early signees, LaKeisha Brown (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Christian), Marquetta Dickens (Tarboro, N.C./Tarboro HS), Kamela Gissendanner (Clairton, Pa./Clairton HS) and Ashley Key (Atlanta, Ga./Landmark Christian), on the 2003-04 roster.
"Darline is excited and we're excited for her to advance on to play Division I basketball at NC State," said Miami-Dade head coach Susan Summons. "She is a bright young lady; a player who is a relentless competitor and willing to do whatever it takes to win."
Jasmin was recently named first team all-Southern Conference after averaging 10.9 ppg, 10.0 rpg and 3.0 bpg this past season in her 27 starts. She led the Lady Sharks of Miami-Dade to their first Southern Conference title since 1993 and their 14th consecutive Regional State Championship appearance. In addition, Jasmin was ranked third in blocked shots by the FCCAA (Florida Community College Athletic Association) and seventh in rebounding.
