Walters Named Hogan Award Semifinalist

Bank of America, in cooperation with The Friends of Golf, Colonial Country Club, and the Golf Coaches Association of America has announced that Justin Walters, a Wolfpack senior golfer from South Africa, has been named a semifinalists for the 2003 Ben Hogan Award. The award is presented annually to the top men's golfer by taking into account that golfer's collegiate and amateur competitions over the last 12 months.
Walters was a 2003 All-America selection who has won three career tournament in only two seasons at NC State. He placed sixth at the 2002 NCAA Championship and is currently ranked the nation's seventh best collegiate golfer. His current career stroke average of 71.56 ranks first in school history ahead of PGA Tour golfer and former NC State standout Tim Clark (71.83). Clark recently finished t-13th at the 2003 Masters.
Five finalists for the 2003 Ben Hogan Award will be named on April 25, with the winner will be announced May 9.
