NC State Baseball Continues To Climb The Polls

Bringing freshman righthander Joey Devine into games has enabled Elliott Avent's NC State Wolfpack to climb to No. 8 in the latest rankings by <I>Collegiate Baseball</I> magazine.

RALEIGH, N.C. - With three wins in four games during the week, including two wins in a big three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series, NC State's baseball team has jumped to No. 8 in the latest national poll by Collegiate Baseball magazine, which had the Wolfpack ranked No. 9 a week ago.

NC State held steady at No. 14 in the latest Baseball America rankings, but moved up two spots from 15th to 13th in USA Today Sports Weekly.

The No. 8 national ranking is the highest NC State has been in the polls since May 17, 1993, when the Wolfpack was ranked No. 7 in Baseball America and No. 6 in USA Today Baseball Weekly.

This is the fifth consecutive week that NC State has been ranked by Collegiate Baseball.
