Raleigh, N.C. - NC State will host No.63 Winthrop and Old Dominion this Friday and Saturday at the Cary Tennis Center. The Wolfpack enters the match up at 5-6 on the season, but looks to add two wins against these non-conference foes. The Pack will play the Eagles at 2 p.m. on Friday, then make a quick turn around to face the Monarchs Saturday morning at 10.
The women's squad has seen a fair amount of success in out-of-league play, and holds a 5-2 advantage over its competition this season. It's two losses both came by way of teams ranked in the top 25 of the ITA poll.
The Wolfpack could see its first win over a ranked opponent on Friday against Winthrop (12-0). The two teams originally met March 19th in Cary, but rain moved in before the match was completed. The teams were at 1-1, and NC State was up by a set in three of the remaining four singles matches when play was ended.
The men's and women's squads will both face Old Dominion on Saturday, the women taking the courts first at 10 a.m., then the men seeing action at 1 p.m. The Lady Monarchs (6-6) are led by No.18 Nataly Cahana, and were ranked No.72 earlier in the month of March.
The Wolfpack has seen a number of different line ups throughout the season, but is sure to include senior Loni Worsley and junior Jennifer Jassawalla. Prior to facing Florida State, Worsley had won six straight, seven counting her unofficial decision over Winthrop's Paula Takahashi. Jassawalla is hitting her mid-season stride and has picked up four consecutive win in singles, and three in doubles with partner Myrna Bawono.
