ZEBULON, N.C. - Nate Cretarolo scattered five hits in seven innings on the mound and Joey Devine worked two hitless innings Saturday to get the save as NC State won its 11th game in a row, 3-1 over Old Dominion at Five County Stadium. The Wolfpack improved to 16-4 with the win, while Old Dominion dropped to 5-12.

Cretarolo (2-2), a junior lefthander, allowed one run on five hits, walked four and struck out seven. Devine, who got his sixth save, hit one batter in two otherwise perfect innings of work. Monarchs starter Ricky Sefka (1-4) pitched well, but was a tough-luck loser after giving up three runs on seven hits in 5-1/3 innings. He walked five and struck out two.

ODU scored first with a run in the top of the second inning. Pedro Pena reached on a one-out infield single and Steven Harris walked. John Oehler singled up the middle to drive in the run, but Cretarolo got Justin Gregula to bounce into a double play to end the inning.

The lead was very short-lived. Justin Riley led off the bottom of the second with a double to left-center and scored on Chad Orvella's one-out single to right. Orvella went to second on a wild pitch, and scored on Marc Maynor's single to center. Matt Camp followed with an infield single to put runners on first and second with one away, but Shefka avoided further damage by retiring Jeremy Dutton and Joe Gaetti on infield pop-ups.

The Wolfpack made it 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth when Orvella led off with a walk, went to second on Adam Hargrave's sacrifice, and came around to score on Camp's single to right.

The Wolfpack mounted several further threats, but stranded two runners in the fifth inning, and left the bases loaded in the sixth, seventh and eighth. NC State left 17 runners on base in all.
