Women's Tennis Set to Face Coastal Carolina

Raleigh, N.C. - NC State will face Coastal Carolina in women's tennis action, Saturday, February 8, at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Tennis Club. The Wolfpack was originally scheduled to face the Chanticleers and the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a double-header, but the promise of inclement weather has caused the coaching staff to postpone the latter meeting until later in the month.
The Wolfpack (1-0) is coming off of a sweep of the UNC Greensboro Spartans. NC State took each match in straight sets, and allowed no individual more than three games in any given singles set.
Newcomer Virginia Romero is expected to see her first action of the season versus the Chants. Romero, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, joined the team in January. Redshirt sophomore Kristin Lam will pair-up with Myrna Bawono in doubles competition, and is doubtful for singles play. Lam is recovering from an injury to her left knee, suffered in the fall.
Coastal Carolina, a member of the Big South, enters the match-up at 2-0 with wins against Augusta State and S.C. State. The Lady Chants are led by junior Medina Bajamrabasic. At the end of the fall, she was ranked No. 29 in the Southeast region, and No. 10 in doubles competition with partner Marie Matrka.
NC State's match will Appalachian State has been rescheduled for February 28 at 3 p.m., and will be held at the Cary Tennis Center in Morrisville.
