Gymnastics Set to Host Wolfpack Invite Friday Night

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State gymnastics team will host the annual Wolfpack Invitational this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack Invite will be the first of two straight meets the Wolpack will host to close out its 2003 home schedule.
NC State (9-4) is coming off a 195.900-195.450 loss at conference foe New Hampshire last weekend. The Wolfpack notched its top road score of the season at UNH, and won at least a share of the title in three of the four events. The Wolfpack sits atop the EAGL conference with a RQS score of 194.440, a mark that ranks 26th nationally. NC State is in the top-five on all events in the conference: first on bars (12th nationally), second on both beam and floor, and fifth on vault.
Also competing in the Wolfpack Invitational will be Illinois State, Minnesota, and North Carolina. Illinois State (5-4) is on the second stop of a three-match road trip, and scored a 191.725 last weekend in defeating Ball State and Illinois-Chicago. Minnesota (7-5) is ranked 23rd nationally this week with a RQS score of 194.530. The Golden Gophers scored a season-high 196.400 in a home loss to Iowa State last weekend. North Carolina (12-0) has not competed since the February 8 Governor's Cup in Reynolds Coliseum. In that meet, UNC won top honors with a school-record 196.775.
