Men's Golf Travels To 2003 Puerto Rico Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's golf team travels to Palmer, Puerto Rico for the 2003 Puerto Rico Classic February 23-25. The tournament features 13 of the top-50 teams nationally according to the Golfweek Sagarin poll, including nine of the top-20. Eleven of the top-25, and four of the top-10 teams in the Golfworld Coaches' Poll are also showcased. NC State is No. 45 by Golfweek and Golfworld has the Wolfpack at No. 21. NC State finished 8th in the event in 2002.
The field also features 20 of the top-50 individual golfers in the nation according to Golfweek, including five of the top-10. Justin Walters of NC State is ranked 12th.
This is the second tournament of the spring for NC State as the Wolfpack finished seventh at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship behind a strong performance from Fernando Mechereffe. The junior from Brazil finished tied for 7th with a two-under-par 73-71-70=214.
