While in Hartford, Conn., the NC State women's basketball team was near both the ESPN Studios and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The 16 players and staff took some time out of their busy practice schedule to tour the ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., after spending two hours in the Hall Fame in Springfield, Mass. The trip to the Hall of Fame was the first for NC State head coach Kay Yow since her induction on Sept. 27, 2002. The players were able to enjoy the interactive displays, which included virtual one-on-one, verticle leap tests, reading commentary pieces and calling a championship basketball game in the media center. They also read about other NC State inductees, Everett Case and David Thompson.
In the ESPN studios, the Pack toured each studio and the behind-the-scenes production rooms for an hour. Players were able to see where Sportscenter, NBA Live and other shows were filmed. They sat at the different anchor desks, checked out the array of video equipment and the tape editing room before meeting up with Michael Irvin in the parking lot before departing on the bus.
